AIGC for Future Global Challenge 2026 award ceremony celebrates youth innovation in Beijing

The AIGC for Future Global Challenge 2026 award ceremony brought together youth innovators, creators and digital technology communities in Beijing to celebrate how artificial intelligence can support a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable future.

A global platform for inclusive digital innovation

Co-hosted by the Global SDGs and Leadership Development Center (GSLDC), International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Global Alliance of Cities for the Digital Economy (DEC40), the challenge invited participants to explore how artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) can create real-world impact across culture, society, commerce, gender inclusion and green development.

Through AI-generated images, videos and audio works, participants used emerging technologies as tools for storytelling, problem-solving and cross-cultural communication.

The award ceremony formed part of the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC), held from 2 to 5 July at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Under the theme Inclusive Intelligence, Borderless Connectivity, GDEC convened governments, international organisations, industry leaders, academic institutions and technology communities to examine opportunities created by digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

Nearly 400 submissions from around the world

Following a global open call, the AIGC for Future Global Challenge 2026 received approximately 400 submissions. The entries presented diverse creative approaches across digital culture, green development, women’s empowerment, digital consumption and responsible technology innovation.

After the evaluation process, outstanding works were selected for recognition at the ceremony. Together, they demonstrated the potential of AIGC as a medium for creative expression, social impact and global communication.

Connecting youth with responsible AI opportunities

The showcased works show how AIGC can extend beyond technological experimentation by supporting cultural preservation, sustainability communication, social storytelling, entrepreneurship and future-oriented innovation.

Through the AIGC for Future Global Challenge and its participation alongside the Global Digital Economy Conference, GSLDC continues to connect young innovators with international opportunities while encouraging responsible AI development and cross-border collaboration.
