Introduction

Launched in 2024, the UNITAR SDGs Singapore Center is the first UNITAR-dedicated institution in the Asia-Pacific region focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) capacity building and leadership development. Jointly established by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Global Youth Leadership Development Council (GYLDC), the Center was created in response to pressing regional and global challenges, including climate change, resource depletion, poverty, and inequality. Anchored on three core pillars—capacity building, leadership development, and innovation—the Center works to translate global SDG commitments into practical, locally relevant action. By combining UNITAR’s international standing, expertise, and UN system connectivity with GYLDC’s strong track record in youth leadership and ecosystem development.

The Center serves as a platform to cultivate globally minded leaders, empower institutions, and accelerate SDG progress toward a more equitable, green, and inclusive future across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
