The Global SDGs and Leadership Development Center (GSLDC) participated in the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 through its contribution to the high-level workshop, “From Commitments to Production: How Public-Private Coalitions Are Turning AI Promises into Industrial Reality.” Organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the session convened leaders from international organizations, governments, academia, and the private sector to explore how artificial intelligence can be translated from policy commitments into practical industrial outcomes.

Held as part of the AI for Good Global Summit, the workshop focused on one of today’s most pressing questions: how can AI create tangible economic and social value, particularly in developing economies? Discussions emphasized that technological innovation alone is not sufficient. Meaningful progress requires strong public-private partnerships, reliable digital infrastructure, workforce development, and international collaboration to ensure AI benefits are shared more equitably across countries.

Representing GSLDC, Executive Director Grace Gao was invited to deliver remarks and participate in the panel discussion alongside distinguished speakers from organizations including UNIDO, IBM, Zindi Africa, the Swiss Smart Factory, and the Beijing Institute of Technology. The panel exchanged perspectives on accelerating industrial AI adoption while strengthening local innovation ecosystems, digital connectivity, and human capacity.

A key theme throughout the workshop was the role of UNIDO’s Centres of Excellence, which serve as practical platforms for deploying AI-enabled industrial solutions while equipping local talent with the knowledge and skills needed to support long-term digital transformation. Participants also highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in removing barriers related to education, infrastructure, and access to emerging technologies.
GSLDC’s participation reflects its continued commitment to advancing responsible AI, fostering international cooperation, and supporting capacity building for sustainable development. Through engagement with global platforms such as the AI for Good Global Summit, GSLDC continues to contribute to international dialogue on how artificial intelligence can drive innovation, strengthen inclusive economic growth, and empower the next generation of global leaders.

As AI continues to reshape industries and societies, GSLDC remains dedicated to building partnerships that connect technology with purpose, ensuring that innovation contributes not only to economic progress but also to a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future.
