Vienna – July 14-15, 2025 – Recently, a grand art event focusing on the future guardians of the Earth – the “THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH” UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Art Exhibition – was held at the solemn UN Rotunda in Vienna. Hosted by the UNITAR SDGs Singapore (under the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR, Geneva), the highest-level executive body within the UN system), this exhibition aims to deepen global youth’s understanding of and commitment to action on the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through the power of art.

Art Empowers a Sustainable Future, Jointly Painting a Paean to Earth’s Life
This exhibition is precisely a significant initiative to promote capacity building and talent development, and fully implement the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Young creators from around the world, with their paintbrushes as a bond, have jointly composed a chapter of “THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH” that focuses on the Earth’s ecology and the harmony of all things through their imaginative and responsible artworks. These works not only demonstrate extraordinary artistic talent but also profoundly reflect the concern and enthusiasm of the younger generation for global ecological governance and their active participation in it.

Young people focus on Earth’s sustainable development through their paintings
The exhibition actively responds to the Convention on Biological Diversity and several key Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Through various art forms such as painting and installation, young creators vividly interpret the urgency and beautiful vision of protecting biodiversity, addressing climate change, and safeguarding marine and terrestrial ecology, calling on the global community to work together.

Cultural and Creative Gifts: Transcending Language and Cultural Boundaries
The event venue was filled with warmth and emotion. Young artists brought special gifts – thermos cups carefully customized with their award-winning artworks, as well as hand-made cultural and creative presents. These gifts, brimming with childlike innocence and sincere intentions, have transcended the boundaries of language and culture, becoming unique carriers for conveying friendly sentiments. They are not only the crystallization of children’s artistic inspiration but also warm testimonies of international friendly interactions and cultural integration, adding a distinctive touch of warmth and humanistic depth to this high-profile art exhibition.

Recorded in UN Official Records, with Multiculturalism Shining on the Same Stage
This art exhibition has been officially included by the UN Women’s Guild (UNWG) as an important part of its annual public welfare activities, aiming to convey the spirit of environmental protection and public welfare through the power of art, and promote the understanding and exchange of global multiculturalism. At the opening ceremony, artists and young performers from different countries presented wonderful cultural performances. The enthusiastic atmosphere fully demonstrated the diversity of cultures and the inclusiveness of art, becoming another highlight of the event.
