Course 13: Industrial Intelligence and Network Security: The Design and Application of Large-scale Data Systems

I. Course Description

First, we explore Web technologies, including the basics of front-end and back-end development, as well as architectures and tools for modern Web applications. Second, we will delve into the field of natural language processing (NLP) to understand how to use computers to process and understand human language. Next, we will enter the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and explore technologies such as machine learning and deep learning. Finally, we present the concepts and practices of cloud computing, including the fundamentals of cloud services, common cloud platforms and tools, and how to deploy and manage applications in a cloud environment.

Through this course, students will be able to understand and apply the key technologies of modern software systems. Design and implement a scalable and secure distributed system. To evaluate and optimize the performance of large software systems. Address real-world security challenges, especially in the software supply chain.

II. Professor Introduction

Vasilakis, NikosNikos Vasilakis – Professor at Brown University

Professor Nikos Vasilakis received his master's and PhD in computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 and studies in research science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His main areas of research is parallelism with distributed systems, programming languages and computer security, with a particular focus on the analysis, conversion and synthesis of programs to automatically enhance the functionality of computer programs or program fragments. In addition to academic activities, professors also have rich experience in industrial practice.

His research includes software supply-chain security technology and a large-scale open-source software ecosystem. The professor is also a software engineer of VMware. Inc. and the Institute of Computer Technology. The solution provided by VMware is an indispensable technology partner of many large enterprises and institutions, assisting the cloud storage and computing of large enterprises in the computer field.
