I. Course Description
The rise of creative industries and the rapid development of digital media have become a major highlight in todays world economy. In this field, the entertainment industry plays a vital role. As an important branch of the creative industry, it creates huge opportunities for economic growth and employment. In the digital age, the entertainment industry has completely changed the entertainment habits of consumers, and the media, film and television, music, games and other fields constantly refresh our understanding of creativity and content.
This project aims to explore the operating mechanisms behind the entertainment industry (ie, film, television, music, and games) and digital media, with particular emphasis on the development of the creative industry and discussing some of the pressing issues facing these industries. We will take the Hollywood economy as an important case, as a striking representative, to study the evolution and development trend of the creative industry in the era of digital media. Through this research, we can get a better understanding of the operation mechanism of the creative industry, reveal its profound economic, social and cultural impact, and how to meet the challenges of digital media technology and globalization.
II. Professor Introduction
Mark Young – Tenured professor, at the University of Southern California
Professor Mark Young is a tenured professor at the Marshall School of Business, focusing on the design of management control systems in the entertainment industry and serving as one of the principal principals of the USC MBA program. An influential scholar in the field of accounting and management, he has published several important papers in top accounting journals including JAR, TAR and JMAR. His book, The Mirror Effect: How a Famous Who seduced America, ” topped the New York Times bestseller list and digs into the impact of celebrity culture on American society.
Professor Young has been widely recognized for his academic contributions, including many Outstanding Contribution Awards to Management Accounting Literature and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Management Accounting. He was also awarded the Distinguished Investigellow of the USC Centre of Teaching Excellence, demonstrating his excellence in teaching. Professor Young, meanwhile, is the official historian of the USC mens tennis team and is the author of the book Troy Tennis: A legendary History of USC Mens Tennis, which records the programs glorious history. In addition, Professor Young is also a distinguished professor at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. He is active in the global academic and business world, and is widely loved by students for his profound teaching style and strong practicality. His innovative insights in consumer behavior research and strategic insights in marketing have brought important implications for academia and industry.
